It's a lovely, warm mahogany colour with decorative original knobs. For something that is likely 1940's or 1950's it's in remarkable condition (all of the wood is unmarked, the original leather writing pad is still inside and rarely enough it even has its key). It's full of character, and I am much more attracted to pieces of furniture that have their own story - this is just how I like things in my home.

I got this lovely bureau at my local auction house but i wasn't going to bid on this because it looked like it would cost to much but the auctioneer came to the bureau number no one was bidding. I couldn't believe it, so put in a cheeky bid and got it for £32 pounds plus commission!
I've been the auction a few times since I bought it and while there have been some other bureaus that have come through, they haven't had the same amount of character as this one and they have ended up going for in excess of £100... which in comparison seems a little much.
I went to the same auction before Christmas and I think that is why I got it so cheaply. it's all about timing and who's there on the day with auctions and that's what I like about them.
